Journalism has been my passion since the age of 15 when I signed up for my first newspaper class in high school. I have covered different beats such as politics, sports, business and education. Overall I enjoy producing stories that lead to change or shed a light on something everyday people may not know about, whether that be positive or negative.
Thus far as a reporter, I have had the chance and platform to travel to New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta, Fort Knox, Kentucky and Amherst, Massachusetts to cover some pretty amazing people and events.
I enjoy speaking with concerned citizens, politicians, supervisors and janitors. Despite titles and socioeconomic status, we all are human and have stories to tell. Most of all, I enjoy speaking with those who have been traditionally ignored by mainstream media.
I am a native of Dallas, Texas and a proud alumna of Howard University in Washington, D.C.
Tiamoyo is my middle name.
Translated in Swahili it means one who inspires from the heart.
